From the district – School Messenger (Phone messages) Update
Beginning in the 2016-17 school year, schools will again be able to use phone notifications for non-emergency related announcements.

This last school year, the district’s use of phone notification to families was restricted. We heard from numerous stakeholders, including many of our English Language Learner (ELL) families, that this restriction was a barrier to sharing and receiving critical district and school information. After further review and clarification of the Federal Communication Commission (FCC) rules, the district is launching a solution for families this fall.

This fall, the district will launch School Messenger’s Info Center, a resource that allows families to control and customize how they receive communications from the school or district.By default, all families will be automatically enrolled to receive all messages from the school/district and will have to update their preferences to opt-out of the communication. This will enable schools to utilize phone calls for non-emergency related issues, while also providing families with an easy way to opt-out of receiving non-emergency calls – if they so choose.

Families will be able to opt-out in a variety of ways:

  • Voice activated opt-out feature (available option during every call)
  • InfoCenter app from the Apple App Store of Google Play Market
  • Website: https://infocenter.schoolmessenger.com/
  • In-person requests or phone calls at individual schools

Additional information on the SchoolMessenger opt-out process will be coming home in students’ first day of school packets through direct family emails and the School Beat newsletter.

Student graduated?  Don’t want to receive these emails any more?  Please follow the unsubscribe link at the bottom of the page!
